Live action video work has been a part of Mile 80 since its conception. Our founder started his career in live action - producing, directing, and shooting - from commercials to independent film. This DNA still lives strong in M80 as we often combine live action within our multidisciplinary approach to creative.

At Mile 80, emotion comes first, story second - and what tools we use to craft the story are a super distant third place. We don’t care what camera is brought to set, nor the brand of the lights. We’ve worked with tiny crews and tiny cameras (iPhones even), and we’ve had access to the greatest cinema cameras on Earth. We don’t believe that one size fits all - if live action is required for your project, we’ll scope out what is necessary and put together the best package for your specific circumstances

Process (~8 weeks)

While each project is different, there are some commonalities across all and below you’ll find a breakdown of how a video usually flows when working with M80.

  1. Exploratory Call - we work with you to identify that video is in fact the best solution to your business need
  2. Visual workshop - Our team collaborates with yours to find references and craft moodboards representing the tone of the piece (~1 week)
  3. Script - Sometimes your team brings the script, other times it’s us. We’re flexible to what fits best for your circumstance. (~1 week)
  4. Storyboard - once the script and Mooboard are defined - we put a storyboard together to bring the vision to life prior to full pre-production (~1 week)
  5. Pre-production - This is where our producers take the storyboard and book all locations, staffing, and tools needed to make the project real (2 weeks)
  6. Production - The shortest and yet most impactful part of the project - shooting (1-5 days)
  7. Post-production - Now that everything is in the can, the real work begins :) - footage is crafted, graphics are added, and the video comes to life (2-3 weeks)
